Acne Scar Options and Scar Therapy

by Valerie Garner

Scars have never been an easy cross to bear, but in the unjust society that we live in not only are they unaccepted, they're considered a mark of imperfection. If you think this is a false statement then just take a few minutes to look around and see all the people - both famous and unknown - that are in constant search of a plastic surgery to eliminate their imperfections, specially scars.

Scar prevention is highly important if you are trying to avoid skin imperfections. Since scarring is a natural part of life, this may be next to impossible. In cases were scar prevention hasn't proven effective, there is a wide range of scar reduction therapy that can treat the problem.

How acne scars are formed

When an injury occurs in the body or when the skin breaks it is replaced by scar tissue. This tissue can take the form of many different types of scars: atrophic and hypertrophic scars, surgical scars, burn scars and acne scars. In this article we will focus specifically on the type of scar formed after an acne breakout.

Acne scars are normally a result of your body's own innate immune system in action. When an infection of foreign element attacks our body our immune system reacts by creating an inflammatory response at the site of the attack. This response effectively does get rid of the infection, but it also annihilates healthy skin tissue along the way.

Acne scar therapy has come a long way since the old days when an herbal salve was the most advanced form of treatment. Now, technological advances have given us a wide variety of options like the ones listed below.

*Steroid Cortisone Injections: This type of injection is used to help reduce scar inflammation and flatten raised scars. Steroid cortisone injections should never be administered without medical supervision.

*Pressure Wraps: You can use pressure wraps on a scar to help by applying pressure that would normally be exhibited by your epidermis. Raised scars achieve the most benefit from using pressure wraps. They are most effective for fresh scars, and to help prevent wounds from developing prominent scarring.

*Laser scar removal: Laser scar removal is an excellent option for softening the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, or scars caused by other factors. You doctor will use a high-energy light, in order to remove or reshape areas of the skin that have been affected by scar tissue. There are several different types of laser scar removal available, each optimally suited for a specific type of scar. Raised and reddened scars can be treated using a pulsed dye laser, while acne scares are best treated using laser skin resurfacing.

There are so many scar removal options, including surgery scars reduction treatments, that you are bound to find one for your skin problems. But no matter what you discover, remember that early acne prevention is still the best way of avoiding these, oftentimes, expensive treatments.

Scar removal is one of the most searched treatments used to eliminate unsightly or bothersome blemishes. Besides surgical or laser options, you can also use creams and lotions, like BIOSKINEXFOL, that afford your skin a good exfoliation treatment. Before diving into any scar therapy make sure to check all of your options.
