What Makes A Wrinkle Cream A Winner?

by Jen Hopkins

Why are some wrinkle creams better than others? More than that, how can an ordinary person without a beautician's license or a degree in chemistry possibly sort through all those confusing words on the label and chemical names as long as your arm? After all, you don't want to grab just any wrinkle cream from a store counter or a seductive web page and take your chances.

You should realize that there are experts who actually know what makes some anti-wrinkle creams better than others, much better than you know yourself, so following their advice would be the best option. Just as you would have a better chance of picking the best dress for a special night out after consulting a friend with a keen sense of fashion for advice, you will also be able to choose the most appropriate anti-wrinkle cream with professional advice.

A lot of people have a prefered cosmetologist who has always done their hair and they may have also had their makeup done by them and given tips on looking after their skin, however some people forget that a "cosmetologist" is also an expert in skin care, they don't just give you a hairdo, die job, or perm. There are salons carrying specalist cosmetics and recommended anti-wrinkle products. But they would only suggest their own exclusive product!

Asking professionals to learn the differences between anti-wrinkle creams would cost you the same amount as the health and beauty magazines you bought, which you can read at libraries, or an easier alternative is to read it from their website. A few magazines regulary have articles comparing different health and beauty products, most of it is designed to stop wrinkles and aging of your skin.

Older friends may have become pretty close to becoming experts themselves by experience using creams to diminish their wrinkles or even to stop them before they get started. Don't be afraid to get first hand insider information. Just tell them how wonderful they really look and they will start spilling their secrets and tips.

As for all those confusing ingredients, you can read about them and educate yourself about long chemical names, but a simpler solution is to stick to more natural products with ingredient lists of things you don't need a chemist or a dictionary to figure out. Natural plant products and simple nutrients are effective and you know what 'vitamin E' is without any explanation and won't need a translator for 'shea butter.'

You should educate yourself about key ingredients every good anti-wrinkle product should contain. Except for night creams, all of them should have a sunscreen, and one that is strong enough to give real protection from damage. Usually, this means an SPF of 15, although some women may prefer SPF 8 or so.

Each also needs to have ingredients that protect against losing water from the skin, and preferably substances that can even augment the hydration of skin. Other very desirable ingredients are hyaluronic and hydroxyl acids, protein and peptides, antioxidants, other exfoliating substances, and nutrients capable of working right through the skin. Doing a little research reading and asking the right questions combined with careful examination of labels will help you accurately answer the question of why are some wrinkle creams better than others.
